Ready to start Blogging? Alright, ready, set go!

1. Open a Blogging account. All of these services are excellent and free. A number of people who blog @ ChannelBV use Wordpress as their platform of choice. Since tens of millions of people use each of the services listed here, you really can’t go wrong!

Get a free Blog at Wordpress.com, Blogger.com or livejournal.com. You can get a blog at your own host if you want to as well, but that is a topic for later.

2. I’ve got my blog, now what do I do? Well, it’s time to start writing! Whatever you want to write about, write it! If you need an idea, how about writing a post about BV? What do you think of it? What do you like/dislike/wish was different? Edit it if you want to, or just get it down and click publish. And now, write your next post! New subject, same subject, doesn’t matter, just keep writing. Set some posting goals for yourself. One post per day isn’t unreasonable. And yes, you can take your weekends off if you want to.

3. Now, you’ve got a few posts up or in your drafts folder to be revised, now what? Well, I would suggest you customize your blog with a theme or style. Depending on your blog platform, they will have some simple instructions on how to make your blog look like you want it to.

4. What’s next? Well, now it’s time to get some readers. Send an email to a few of your friends and include a link to your blog or to a story/article/post on your blog and ask them to read it and see what they think. Maybe someone will write a comment, maybe someone will submit it to a social news site, maybe someone will email it to another friend. Who knows! But now you’ve started a conversation with the world and who knows where it will go!

5. You’re blogging! Are you writing about things that might interest the folks in your community? Well, why don’t you try writing something for that audience and submit it to ChannelBV or cross-post it to the Forums. We would love to hear from you.
