For those of you who are new to Channel BV, welcome, we’re glad you have stopped in for a visit. For those of you who are also new to the concept of blogging, we first recommend that you check out this link to read a bit about what blogging is all about. Then, you may be interested to have a look at what goes on inside of one blogger’s mind as she wrestles with the ideas that surface in her blog and how they may be perceived (told through her experience in pottery class). Blogging can be whatever you want it to be: descriptions of life through your own lens, an expression of creativity, a business tool, a way to give advice or share knowledge, a political stance, a way to really think something through “out loud”, a place for photos, videos and words that are meaningful to you. Blogging gives you an opportunity to express your opinions, thoughts and observations. They can also be whimsical or amusing.
One of the best aspects of blogging is that it really forces the writer to explain their thoughts coherently and concisely. For BVers, it can be a way of explaining your view on the community or connecting your wider experiences with the way things are here. I was speaking with a woman who was recently traveling through Lebanon. She described how she was astounded by the similarities that she saw there with certain aspects of our town. I’ve never been to Lebanon, but I immediately could relate to a distant country through my own experiences here. Powerful stuff.
So, in that spirit, Channel BV is hosting a free workshop to help folks really understand the power of blogging. This Thursday (if you aren’t already heading over to The Trailhead for their evening talk) come by Mother’s community room and enter the world of blogging. It starts at 7pm and will cover everything you need to know to get your blog rolling.
