Cottonwood Creek - Foresight MultimediaThe Cottonwood Meadows sketch plan was approved at last night’s trustee meeting in Buena Vista. It has been two years since the project held its charrette, a process by which public input is addressed and incorporated into the development plan by architects, designers, and engineers. The public input and approval process of this project is symbolic of the discussions that will become increasingly more prevalent in our community over the coming years with regards to growth and how we choose to manage it. The project website provides sketches and information about its guiding principles. An article published last year in The Vail Daily gives an overall perspective on the project and its approach to merging New Urbanism with food production and Community Supported Agriculture.

Update: A few points shared by our readers - In addition to the unanimous trustee vote supporting the annexation of the project into town, Lynette Neesen, project administrator for ‘The Meadows’ writes, “We were approved for annexation to the Town (Of Buena Vista) and received PUD Zoning. This is the most significant annexation to occur in more than fifty years and demonstrates that the Town of BV is willing to pro-actively embrace and manage the growth in our valley.”
