There are many important questions right now with regards to the future of Buena Vista. Significant growth is expected to come in the form of aging baby boomers looking to retire in the mountains. Water resources are becoming more scarce. There is a need for continued economic revitalization. As a community, we need to work to be increasingly supportive of our youth.
The future of our town is largely correlated to the vision of our trustees. It is our duty and privilege to vote for those that we feel are best qualified to make informed, thoughtful decisions in these times. The Buena Vista town website describes the responsibilities of the Board of Trustees as, “the policy-making legislative body of the Town…. The Board takes action by enactment of ordinances, resolutions and formal motions, which provide direction for the Town Staff. The Board appoints a Town Administrator, Town Attorney, Town Clerk, Town Treasurer and Municipal Judge.”
There are currently 1753 registered voters in the town of Buena Vista. For the two previous elections only nine percent of registered voters chose to cast a ballot. If this continues to be the trend, your vote tomorrow will count significantly toward the future of Buena Vista. There are six candidates running for five seats on the Buena Vista Board of Trustees. Polls will be open from 7am to 7pm. The polling place for Precinct No. 1 will be the Buena Vista Community Center - Aspen Room.
