Alex T writes an editorial perspective on the Cottonwood Meadows debate:

“The CBV forums have been host to a lively debate surrounding the Cottonwood Meadows development. With the petitioners collecting the necessary signatures to force a review of the decision to annex the project into town limits, it’s been great to see (and participate in) the discussion. The discussion has ranged from questions about water and the effects of a thirsty front range to traffic and projected population growth. But I think that everyone is dancing around the actual question which is “What is the future of Buena Vista?” Put another way, “How does my idea of what BV’s (Or Greater Buena Vista’s) future differ from yours?” That is a discussion that I think needs to take place. And soon. Otherwise, all parties are playing from different decks, with different goals and different plans. I think that this development which offers our community extensive new public fishing access, miles of bike and hike trails, an amphitheater for public music and performance art, a local farm and dairy as well as tens of acres of beautiful protected open space and a care facility for our senior residents is a project that has a clear vision in support of this community. Thanks to all who have joined in the continuing debate. If you have an idea or opinion to share, please chime in!”
