Living in a small town doesn’t have to mean being cut off from the cultural benefits of living in a major city. With music from CPMF and the Alpine Orchestra, reknowned speakers from the Collegiate Peaks Forum, and respected work hanging in numerous art galleries, Buena Vista has much to offer the curious mind.
For those who want a little more of this type of thought, ChannelBV is hosting an evening to watch and discuss several speakers from the exceptional TED conference. This organization invites the great thinkers and doers of our time to come and give conferees a tiny window into their work. Each speaker gets 18 minutes to explain the arc of their work and their hopes and concerns for the future. From architects and designers to musicians, poets and engineers, TED offers a uniquely current view of the world directly from the mouths of the people who are helping to shape it.
I called this post ‘Lunch with a Luminary’ because TED’s 18 minute talks, which are available on the web, are an excellent way to get fired up and inspired over lunch. It’s almost like attending a luncheon at the National Press Club. For more information, visit TED.com and check out a few of their speakers (I’d recommend Jane Goodall or David Macaulay). You can also see TED’s founder and curator Chris Anderson being interviewed on Charlie Rose (Charlie actually behaves himself in the interview).
If this is your cupa’ tea, come and hang out with ChannelBV and friends to watch and discuss a few of TED’s most exciting speakers - Thursday night @ Beads Louise on Tabor Street. See you there!
