cpmf08_image.jpgAs of this post there are only 15 days until the streets of Buena Vista once again are alive with music, dancing and celebration. Now is the time to make sure your friends will be in town, your dancing shoes will be polished and your work all finished for the upcoming Collegiate Peaks Music Festival, August 15-17.

Just so we can be sure that you know who’s coming to town, CBV has been posting about CPMF bands over recent weeks. Hopefully these posts will help you understand the diversity and depth of the musicians that are on their way. We’ve already talked a bit about Angie Stevens, Hazel Miller, The Boulder Acoustic Society, Jonah Werner, Mohammed Alidu & The Bizung Family, so click away if you missed those posts.

Today we cover the Buckner Funken Jazz, the self-proclaimed “Aficionados of Old School Funk”. Denver’s Hermans Hideaway website states,
BFJ has built a solid reputation at the best Colorado venues for their well honed, supremely funky stage show. BFJ Delivers Old School Funk with such authenticity and intensity, They are known to keep the crowd funken for hours – nonstop. Their sets can blow up the party or implode with quiet intensity, seamlessly transitioning through Miles and Monk to Maceo, and back again.

Rod Buckner, the band’s leader, doubles as a Middle school orchestra instructor by day at Denver’s Henry Middle School, so I guess they will be ready for a rambunctious Buena Vista audience.

Get ready for some funkaliciousness. Can’t wait…
