If your summer has been anything like ours, you’ve probably been very busy with business, family and community events. Backyard barbecues, trips into the mountains and down the river, and fun events like this past weekend of Gold Rush Days and the Gem Show really filled the calendar fast. Autumn seems to be a time that Buena Vista heaves a big sigh of relief and kicks its feet up while the aspens turn. As you begin to look ahead to your fall calendars, we thought this new county-wide event would be beneficial to keep in mind.
The Sustainability Showcase and Celebration will be held on September 27th at the Orpheum Theatre in Buena Vista. This full day event will be centered around the three themes of renewable energy, local food production and sustainable economic development. The event will feature speakers as well as a trade show featuring businesses, organizations or individuals displaying their “green” products or services.
Two of the already announced speakers are Randy Udall, “one of the nation’s leading activists in promoting energy sustainability,” and Quint Redmond, “An expert in the utilization of the land use concept “Agriburbia,, which integrates food production as an integral element in the community design, social network and financial viability of the neighborhood.”
Check the ChannelBV Press Release page for more information about this event and the speakers.

Thanks for promoting this important event, Allison.
We expect this to be the first of many more annual conferences which will help BV and the Ark Valley gain the reputation as a leading community in the sustainability movement.
