Coming at you with a special Saturday edition of ChannelBV! We are spending the day in beautiful downtown Buena Vista in the Orpheum Theatre, staffing our booth at the First Annual Sustainability Showcase sponsored by Colorado Mountain College. If you’re reading this at home, come join us for a day of engaging speakers, locally produced food and a midway featuring local green and sustainable businesses.
CBV editor Allison Abdelnour had a chance to ask one of the event facilitators about the day,
“When asked about the current state of sustainability knowledge and participation currently in Chaffee County, event organizer, Judy Green of Colorado Mountain College, responds by saying, “There are a lot of companies, individuals and organizations (non-profit and otherwise) offering green products and services to not only help the environment, but the family budget as well. Straw bale homes, bio diesel, engine conversions, locally produced food, etc. “
I know that these topics are on the minds of many people I talk to day to day. This event looks to give those sustainably-minded folks an opportunity to meet and mingle with new friends who also share a passion for all things green and local.
If your trying to plan your day, the speakers and local business showcase runs from 9am to 5pm. ($10 at the door) with local music and dance to follow at the community mixer from 6pm to 9pm ($6 at the door if purchased separately). The speakers are as follows:
