At their September board meeting, the Operation Round Up® board responded to an emergency by donating some much needed meals to the Victims Assistance Fund for the displaced occupants of Sunrise Manor. Paul Erickson, CEO of Sangre De Cristo Electric, contacted Victim’s Assistance to see what their need was on Monday and on Tuesday a check was cut to help provide meals for 16 residents who were affected by the recent fire. “That is indeed looking out for your neighbors and that is why I love living in a small town. Everyone watches out for each other and lends a hand when it is needed,” commented Erickson.

The board also helped the ladies of the Upper Arkansas Valley Quilt Project keep sewing wonderful quilts that are given to children in need throughout the valley. Upper Arkansas Valley Quilt Project is a non-profit agency, whose dedication supplies those in need with handmade quilts and some comfort. The quilts are distributed to area homeless shelters, social services and emergency services, just to name a few. Since December of 2006, busy hands have made and distributed 265 quilts. The ladies whose dedication allows this wonderful need to be met truly enjoy seeing people’s reactions when they are given their own handmade quilt. They simply love what they are doing.
